Happy Birthday, Princess Jane!

Yesterday my sweet baby Jane turned 4. I can't believe she is that old! On Saturday we had a Princess Birthday Bash in her honor. We invited 17 little girls thinking about half would show. Nope. 15 of Jane's friends and cousins were able to come celebrate her big day! The party was a blast! The girls got to make wands, get their nails painted, dress up, play "Poison Apple" (aka Hot Potato. . .they didn't get it as well as I thought they would), kiss the frog (pin the tail on the donkey only they had kissy lips instead of tails and it was a picture of Prince Naveen the frog, not a donkey), eat pizza, open presents, and have cake and ice cream. What a party! We were all so spent afterward, we crashed.

Blowing out candles

Yesterday, on Jane's actual birthday, she got sung to in Primary and then later in the day we went to Grandma and Grandpa Bassett's for dinner and she got to blow out candles there too.

Janey, I'm so glad that you were born. You have filled our lives with excitement, happiness, drama, and love. You are so smart! You know your letters, numbers, colors, and animals. You can draw and paint and read words. You help mom and dad. You are kind and compassionate. We can't wait to see what the next year brings! Love you, Sis!

The Tangled Cake

For Jane's birthday she wanted a Tangled cake. I looked for ideas online and came to the conclusion that I was going to have to try something I'd never done before: build with Rice Krispie treats. I was nervous but I'm happy with how it all turned out. The cake took about 7 hours to decorate (I'm slow). Here are pics of the process:

Molding the Krispie Treats
Everything covered in fondant. I used wooden dowels to hold up the tower. I didn't do it perfectly so the tower leaned a bit but at least it stayed up!
