Food Storage

We have been talking about food storage for years now and now we've finally started. Thanks to case lot sales, the cannery, and a little motivation (aka the earthquakes and volcanoes) we now have a good start. We spent most of Friday morning sealing up pouches of food then headed to the case lot sales and Lowes (for the shelving) and this is our finished product:

Excellent. I have those shelves but they are not as full as yours yet! I will work on it.

My name is Jordan. I served in Ohio with Trent. I added yer guys blog to my feed reader and I get a chance to look at it now and then. I had to comment on this because I've got a question.

You said that you sealed up pouches of food. How did you do that? Where'd you get the equipment? Was it expensive? How long will it last in pouches? Was it only dry food in the pouches?

Thanks!

Jordy--You can check the pouch sealers out from the cannery (to find one near you visit www.providentliving.com). The machine is free to borrow, you just need to purchase the pouches ($.40) and oxygen absorbers ($.08).

Doesn't it feel great to feel somewhat prepared? I love that feeling. You are the perfect Vanna White to show off your hard work ;)

You are one busy Lady. Everything looks so wonderful. I love your coat rack, your shelves, and the deck looks amazing. You are both working really hard. Hope life is going well. I miss talking to you neighbor. We need to get together at least once this Spring and Summer and have a little village get together with the kids. I would love to come and visit you. I am out that way often so we need to make it happen. I have your number I will call you,
Love you guys,
The Chandlers
